U.S. Department of Transportation has approved a budget of U.S. $ 100,000 to create an instance (prototype) highway that uses solar panels, called Solar Road Panels.
This road is made of glass and solar panels that will eventually replace the concrete or asphalt.
Especially if the goal is not to produce a power source from the use of solar panels on the highway, eventually, each panel measuring 12 × 12 inch road could generate about 7.6 kilowatt hours per day.
So if the road is made with solar panels along 1 mile of 4 lane then at least electrical energy generated could generate electricity for 500 homes. Quite right?
But just count the cost involved when one panel Solar Road Panels are priced U.S. $ 7,000 for the size 12 × 12 inches.
Oh yeah, besides that, this highway will also have LED lights so that road markings and other writings will light through the Solar Road Panel.
